Fresh from signing a new five year contract at Real Madrid, Nike remember where it all began for Cristiano Ronaldo with the new Nike Mercurial Superfly Heritage iD: CR7 Chapter 3.
After years in the Nike vaults, the Mercurial Vapor 1 is making a return (of sorts), reincarnated in the form of the Mercurial Superfly Heritage iD. Sitting alongside the Nike Mercurial CR7 “Chapter 3: Discovery” football boots, Nike have created a modern take on the Mercurial Vapor 1 boots worn by Cristiano on 6th August 2003 in his final appearance for Sporting Lisbon against Manchester United ― the club he would sign for ten days later.
The boots resemble (albeit subtly) the “Chrome/White/Black” R9 colourway of the original Nike Mercurial Vapor series, launched in 2002 as Nike's first ever sub-200 gram boot. The boot was the sixth in the groundbreaking series and one of the most iconic in Mercurial history. The special edition Mercurial Superfly Heritage iD boots feature a metallic silver upper with subtle wave graphics in a dark grey, as well as “Volt” line graphics running down the heel.
It’s the second time Nike have dropped a special edition Mercurial iD, following on from the Mercurial Superfly Heritage iD series launched back in May. In similar fashion, the boots are expected to be available from nike.com/NIKEiD for a limited time only.
The Nike Mercurial Superfly Heritage iD will be available beginning November 7 at nike.com/NIKEiD
