Nike know how to celebrate when one of their athletes achieves greatness. In a clean Swoosh swoop of 2016 individual accolades, Carli Lloyd joined Cristiano Ronaldo in picking up the 2016 FIFA World Player of the Year award, and with that comes the special edition Superfly treatment.
Just like Cristiano Ronaldo and his limited edition Mercurial Superfly CR7 Vitorias boots, Carli Lloyd has been presented with a bespoke pair of Superfly boots of her own, customised to levels only worthy of an elite player that's achieved elite success. The boots of USWNT international Lloyd have been personalised with inspirational quotes on the upper to reflect her incredible dedication to be the best, and also feature a "World Player of the Year 2016" print on the outstep.
Built in "Wolf Grey" with blue and silver detailing, it's a colourway that sits close to the most recent women's version of the "Radiation Flare" pack, and one that defines Lloyd's character – modest, low-profile, but a cut above the rest. Nike have no plans to release them to the public, it's more of a trophy to Lloyd, a token of thanks from the brand. But then again, the Swoosh did drop a few limited edition pairs of her "Leave Your Legacy" boots in 2015, so it's worth keeping an eye out.
