The adidas X Tango 17+ Purespeed takes on a maverick approach as it snubs the design of the football boot in favour of a laceless upper. Turning up to the new-generation party on its own, the small-sided shoe doesn't follow the dress code and isn't even sorry about it.
Whereas the adidas X 17+ Purespeed retains the lace cover, the Tango edition does away with the lot stripping things right back to a shell reminiscent of an adidas Glitch inner-shoe. With such a rapid change of direction towards the Purecontrol side of the adidas line-up the X Tango 17+ sports similarities to the ACE model, such as the TechFit compression upper to ensure a locked down fit.
Landing as part of the adidas "Dust Storm" pack and the first ever member of the X family to feature laceless technology, could this be the first step in adidas releasing a completely laceless X football boot in the future? They certainly have the technology to create it, we know that. The indoor sole creates an odd silhouette on the Tango but a cleated soleplate would banish that initial doubt. Slip on & kick on.
