Nike move fast to celebrate Cristiano Ronaldo winning The Best FIFA Men's Player 2017 award by launching a limited edition take on the Mercurial CR7 Chapter 5 football boot. The CR7 Mercurial "Melhor" nods to Ronaldo retaining the title while paying homage to the trophy itself.
Nike push CR7's signature series into a punch of platinum as recognition of being named the greatest player on the planet for the second successive year. In previous years Nike have celebrated a CR7 Ballon d'Or victory with a totally bespoke design released in super limited numbers – the super limited numbers will follow that theme but the design is effectively a pimped up Chapter 5 feel this time.
The Nike Mercurial CR7 Melhor (Portuguese for "best") puts premium touches and an extra page on Chapter 5 of the signature CR7 Mercurial series with a pure platinum finish on the CR7 logo and chrome finish on the sole plate. The boots also feature a unique 3D-reflective treatment on the Swoosh that will shine under the lights. The main man is set to exclusively feature in them during the coming weeks. There's currently two ways of getting a pair: Join the mad scramble from 9am this morning, or win back to back World Player of the Year Awards. We're not overly confident which will be easier.
