PUMA send the ONE 18.1 into darkness as a shadow descends on the new-generation silo. The blackout design arrives as the first update to the 18.1 series in a move that's usually reserved for when a boot is coming to the end of its life.
What's more unusual is that the launch colourway of the ONE 18.1 was in also black, albeit with a secondary red detail. Not that we're complaining, though. PUMA respect the fact that the ONE 18.1 is still a comfort option for many players, and with that comes higher demand for more traditional colourways – and none are more traditional than a complete blackout.
The blackout ONE 18.1 won't feature on the feet of contracted PUMA professionals, so expect the likes of Sergio Aguero and Hector Bellerin to remain in the launch colourway. PUMA have replaced the upper of the previous edition with a super soft and thin K-Leather which has been applied only to the key striking area; a move that reduces the weight of the boot and produces a more streamlined silhouette.
