The Glitch has played an understated role in the adidas squad since the concept launched October 2016, but now adidas look set to throw it onto the main stage with a supportive role in the biggest of shows – the 2018 World Cup.

France duo Benjamin Mendy and Presnel Kimpembe have both revealed an exclusive Glitch 18 outerskin this week, of which both are set to debut in France's opening game at the 2018 World Cup in Russia against Australia on June 16. Taking the laceless and versatile Glitch 18 upper and transforming it with the French Tricolour flag to take personalisation to new heights.

We've already seen Argentina forward Paulo Dybala training in another eccentric Glitch 18 design, and the latest design for Mendy and Kimpembe suggests that adidas are set to experiment further this summer. Keep your eyes peeled for more disruptive designs as the tournament progresses.

The adidas Glitch 18 boots are still only available to buy via the adidas Glitch App in the UK, Germany, and France. For now, anyway...
