New Balance throw down their 2018 World Cup gauntlet with a refreshed duo of silos headlined by the new generation Tekela 1.0 football boot, which replaces the Visaro series ahead of the summer showpiece in Russia.

Landing as one half of the Otruska Pack, the Tekela 1.0 is launched in a Russian inspired wrap with key callouts to the host nation, most notably the striking white and flame red colourings that pull the pack together – colours of the Russia national team kits. If you want to go a bit deeper than that, then the Otruska Pack takes its name from the mythical two-headed hellhound, Orthrus. Got that? Good.

The Tekela uses the principles upon which the Visaro was launched upon, but takes a dynamic shift in overall design. Whereas the Furon is built for speed, the Tekela aims to target control and manoeuvrability, as well as pure pace. A full foot micro fibre upper features kinetic stitch embroidered bands to deliver exceptional stability, feel and touch.

The outsole has been engineered for agility; featuring a TPU with inlayed nylon chassis, conical studs providing 360 rotational traction and finished in a stunning flame coloured chrome layer. The extended tongue and higher collar proved the statement visual upgrades.

The new-generation Tekela 1.0 boots and Furon 4.0 boots will be worn by all New Balance players throughout the 2018 World Cup. So look out for the likes of Tim Cahill, Kevin Mirallas, Massimo Luongo all in the white and red designs, plus the possibility of some new faces as the tournament approaches.
