Refreshing the Always Forward Pack for a second wave, Nike drop the PhantomVSN in a new suit of “Black/Metallic Silver/Racer Blue” vibes. A smart and traditional look with a shiny waistcoat for an added touch of character. No one's hating on these.
The first batch of Always Forward Pack releases which debuted last month saw the speed of the Mercurial pitted against the precision of the Phantom VSN with an undercard of Hypervenom and Tiempo contenders. It’s a fairer fight for the second round though, with the two big boys squaring up and the latter two sitting this one out.
For the Phantom’s new look, the "Racer Blue" of the first wave appears on the signature triangle on the instep, giving the boot a very different look depending on whether you are viewing it from the lateral or medial side. Viewing it from the lateral side presents a shadowy vibe for a design that will no doubt be widely adopted by players looking for a low-key vibe. That shimmer of "Racer Blue" brings a splash of interest to the low-key game.
The matte silver soleplate provides the finishing touch as Nike deliver a look that complements the corresponding Mercurial perfectly. A tempting option for Nike's pool of contracted players. The Swoosh will aim to keep all their leading players in the first "Always Forward" collection but that could prove to be easier said than done.
