Nike Launch Neymar's Signature 'NJR Silencio' Mercurial

Whisper it quietly but Neymar is currently the only Nike footballer with a signature boot series. Call it a changing of the guard, a new era, call it what you want, all that matters is that this here is the Nike Mercurial Vapor NJR Silencio and it's ready for a Neymar comeback.

Ok, the CR7 series ain't done yet, far from it, but for the time being at least Neymar will fly the signature Swoosh flag for the brand when he returns from injury in the coming weeks in time for Paris Saint-Germain to chase down the Ligue 1 title and mount a serious Champions League challenge. It's time to do all his talking on the pitch, and that's exactly the theme of his latest signature Mercurial design.

The NJR Silencio may look low-key from a distance but up close the word 'Shhh' is scattered across the upper for a distinct aesthetic. That 'Shhh' wording is taken from a tattoo that Neymar has on the inside of his index finger, so when he puts it to his lips, well, you get it. Bright red Swooshes pop along with matching stud tips and 'Neymar' branding on the heels accompanied by a crown and diamond symbol.

This is the first Neymar signature since the "Meu Jogo" Mercurial that was launched during the 2018 World Cup, and the third signature Nike design for the Brazilian overall. His first boot – the "Written in the Stars" edition was launched in July 2017. Expect the bespoke treatment to become a more frequent trend for the PSG frontman moving forward.

It's still early days for the Neymar signature line, and it's got a long way to go to rival the influence and strength of the Cristiano Ronaldo series but it's another step. Does the NJR Silencio have the instant impact of a CR7 release? Perhaps not, but this is a different player, with a different story; a player that Nike will lean on firmly in a post-CR7 market.
