Legendary Portugal midfielder Luis Figo has taken it upon himself to confirm that a re-release of one of Nike's most universally loved football boots is imminent. Yep, the first generation Nike T90 Laser I is set to drop this month as the Swoosh raid the archives for the most crowd pleasing of moves.
The T90 Laser I football boots launched back in April 2007 and ran for four generations until the series was replaced by the Hypervenom in 2013. The T90 was adored for it's heavy artillery shooting technology across the upper and was popular mainly amongst forwards, with Wayne Rooney and Fernando Torres installing themselves as the most lethal players to wear the silo. Twelve years later, and Nike are set to drop a limited run of re-makes.
A bigger, stronger, more nostalgia-induced campaign is sure to mark the official release of the 2019 edition of the T90 Laser I, but for now you can take this photo of Luis Figo in his back garden as confirmation that it's happening. On first look the re-releases appears to be an almost exact like-for-like take on the original, but you can expect Nike to have added subtle tweaks under the bonnet to ensure that the update is up to their 2019 performance standards.
In recent years adidas have had a lot of success in exploring their Predator archives in search of re-makes, and could this be the first sign of Nike doing the same. You ain't saying no to a full set of T90s are you? Laser I to Laser IV, sign us up.
