Nike Present Alex Morgan With Special-Edition PhantomVNM

One of the many things that Nike does well is always recognise the achievements of its athletes, and today is no exception, with the Swoosh honouring USWNT striker Alex Morgan’s 100th international goal with a special-edition PhantomVNM.

Nike gets its special-edition style on once more, this time awarding striker Alex Morgan with a limited PhantomVNM boot, decked out to celebrate her 100th career goal with the US Women’s National Team, which she scored in a belter of a friendly against Australia that ended 5-3 to the USA. It only took Morgan 14 minutes to hit the milestone as she opened the scoring, slotting home in trademark fashion.

The boot itself takes on a sophisticated floral look that’s reminiscent of her national team colours, enclosing a tonal American flag on a platinum Swoosh. Text on the graphic overlay connects her boot to silhouettes past and present: The number 100 appears in the iconic T90 font, a nod to one of Morgan’s all-time favourite boots, while her name is emblazoned in PhantomVNM type. The date and coordinates next to the strike zone represent her first international goal scored on October 6, 2010, in Chester, Pennsylvania.

The plaudits were quick to come in for Morgan, who joins an exclusive club, being only the 7th American woman to score 100 international goals.

The special-edition Nike PhantomVNM will be limited to 100 units and they'll only be available for purchase in North America. Soz 'bout that.
