Continuing the drip feed of the “Under the Radar” pack, Nike launch the next-generation Mercurial Superfly VII, wrapping the seductive silhouette in a silky shadow of stealth ready for yet another series of speed.
The first entry in the “Under the Radar” pack landed last month in the form of the next generation Tiempo Legend VIII, and now Nike continue the next generation game with the Mercurial Superfly VII and Vapor XIII, taking last season’s hugely successful silo and upgrading it to ensure perfection is maintained for another campaign. The last variant of the Mercurial was near perfect, but Nike are not ones to rest on their laurels, instead tweaking and improving where there is space to tweak and improve, namely with the fit, adding more responsiveness, and making it more lightweight and breathable.
The main area of focus for improvement on the new Mercurial was with the Flyknit upper, where Nike have introduced a new tenacity yarn. This yarn is significantly lighter in weight while also being stronger than yarns used in the past, providing better lock in than ever before, with a faster break in time. As well as this, the new Mercurial also boasts the thinnest NIKESKIN ever, and this works in conjunction with the Flyknit and the ACC coating to provide the best touch and control in all conditions.
The “Under the Radar” Mercurial launches alongside the “New Lights” edition for a double debut of opposing attraction. Where the “New Lights” Mercurial adopts a bright blue upper with new style branding popping in white across the heel and underfoot through the split soleplate, the “Under the Radar” embraces its name, arriving in a stealthy blacked out look. Look, it’s been said before but it bears repeating: black boots just work, and it’s certainly no different here – the silky silhouette of the Superfly VII ticks all the right boxes for pre-season and beyond.
The "New Lights" edition will be on the feet of Nike's leading professional players, but the "Under The Radar" will no doubt out-sell it.
