Suited in a shimmering shine of gleaming gold, adidas launch the ‘Input Code’ pack, with the Predator, COPA, Nemeziz and X getting impeccably dressed up ahead of the return of the Champions League.
The return of the Champions League is imminent, and in preparation Europe’s premier competition adidas have dropped a pack worthy of such a headline stage. Firstly, if the Nemeziz and X look familiar here, it’s because they were released back in June (U.S. only) under the guise of the Inner Game pack. But now they're finally available on European shores, and with a suitable name change they join the Predator 19+ and COPA 19+ to complete a resplendent looking pack.
The Input Code pack sees a regal gold splashed over the four key adidas boots in varying degrees, and it’s combined with blues and whites. The Predator gets the heaviest of the gold treatment in a look that’s very reminiscent of the 25 years of Predator release that dropped earlier this year. Swap the black and red out for blue, and you’re almost there. Aside from some blue pops in the studs though, the soleplate comes in a complete gold chrome. In the absence of Ozil’s Arsenal and Pogba’s Manchester United in the Champions League, you can expect to see Dele Alli and Ivan Rakitić as two of the main players in the Input Code Predator.
The COPA goes against the grain of the rest of the pack, with a white base giving the upper a pristine vibe. The gold pops on the Three Stripes branding and on parts of the soleplate, along with blue. It’s the cleanest look of the four, and while it’s a look that’s reminiscent of previous COPA’s, it’s by far the best execution, and you’ll see it in action on the feet of Juve’s Paulo Dybala and Atletico’s Joao Felix.
If we say that the Input Code X is the strongest look for the speed silo to date, there probably wouldn’t be that many arguments. It takes a black core that’s interrupted below the collar by blue stripes throughout the new X-Layskin. Through this you can also see hints of gold shining through from inside. The shimmering soleplate, heel cup and Three Stripes instantly catch the eye, adding to the overall allure of the boot. Mo Salah will be leading the defence of Liverpool’s title when they open their campaign against Napoli – even though he already wore them in the summer's Africa Cup of Nations tournament.
The Nemeziz completes the quad, taking on a very tidy blue base with black lines weaved through the unique agility bandage upper, and that’s accented by the stand-out shimmering golden split soleplate with blue tipped studs. Leading adidas players will wear them during Champions League games, and while they're expected to switch back to the Hardwired Pack for domestic action you can bet a few of them will remain in the new designs.
