Looking to the past for some special edition moves, PUMA launch the Future Retro boots, which celebrates the classic PUMA INHALE that was first launched in 2000, with a design that pays tribute to the iconic style of the running sneaker.
The PUMA INHALE was the brand’s flagship running shoe at the time of its release back in 2000, developed utilising new materials and a thicker sole in order to maximise energy transfer when running. The design featured exaggerated contours and curves on its upper, inspired by the proper breathing technique needed to excel when performing at maximum capacity. And now, 20 years on, PUMA are honouring that special sneaker by bringing the past onto the Future.
Kicking off a story that will be extended by another upcoming special edition release, the PUMA Future Retro football boots re-creates the original striking design of the INHALE with the same “High Risk Red/Black/Silver/White” colourway. The upper is constructed from a mesh base with a TPU embossed skin coating with an integrated PUMA Future 5.1 soleplate in a tribute to the iconic style.
It's the first special edition serving for PUMA of 2020 and it's a pretty niche one, better explained by a quick look at the running trainer the boot is inspired by below. While the link to the shoe might be loose for some, we can all appreciate the design for what it is. A clash of modern meets retro with a dash of Hot Wheels-eque aesthetics. Keeping us on our toes, like it.
