With Mohamed Salah reaching 100 goals for Liverpool on Saturday – the fastest in the modern era – adidas have created a bespoke version of the X Ghosted .1 football boots for the player to celebrate the achievement & wear on-field on Wednesday in the Champions League fixture against Ajax.
The Egypt international became the 17th player in Liverpool FC history to score 100 goals for the club when he notched in the Merseyside Derby against Everton on Saturday lunchtime at Goodison Park to become the first man to reach a century of strikes for the Reds since Steven Gerrard in 2008, and he did so in the third-fewest amount of games.
The limited edition design is a tweak on the launch colourway of the boot series and is titled 'Mo's Golden Touch' as a shimmering golden soleplate holds up further splashes of gold across the upper, accompanied by some Salah personalisation. Liverpool's number 11 is set to wear them in training this week before lacing them up in their Group Stage opener against Ajax on Wednesday.
The boots won't be going to retail but we wouldn't be surprised to see adidas give fans the chance to get their hands on a few special edition pairs across their social channels, so may worth be staying tuned to those over the coming days...
