adidas Launch The Predator Accelerator 'Eternal Class'

Take a seat and admire – this monochrome masterpiece is the second instalment of the ‘Eternal Class’ pack from adidas, picking up right where the Boxing day drop left off, only this time venturing into the darkness with the return of the much-favoured Predator Accelerator.

The Accelerator is quite simply one of the most iconic Predator silhouettes of all time, and silhouette is the most apt word in that sentence at this time, for having previously appeared in numerous colourways including the iconic “black/white/red” look and the classy Zidane-inspired gold edition, adidas open the archives once more for a delicacy in the dark, switching out the lights on the clean white of what we now know was only the first instalment of the ‘Eternal Class’ pack.

We’ve recently seen the instantly recognisable aesthetics of the Accelerator acting as inspiration for Pharrell’s Human Race revamp release, but here we return to the traditional shape of the OG release from ‘98, albeit with all colour stripped away for what is a sublime suit of stealth that combines “Core Black” with “Grey Six”. As with previous rereleases, it’s on the underside that the changes are noticeable, with the current split soleplate being brought in too outstanding effect. January and it appears we already have a contender for boot of the year…

On boxing day, adidas unveiled the first part of the ‘Eternal Class’ pack, which saw another incarnation of the Predator, the Absolute, joined by the Copa Mundial in pristine coats of white, as the Three Stripes once again dipped into their extensive archive for a pleasing throwback, and we were more than content with the class on offer. That was until we locked our eyes on this. You can expect to see this beast in action on the feet of David Alaba, Weston McKennie, Maxi Gomez and Aymeric Laporte, if he can get over his latest injury setback.

And as if the boot was not enough, adidas also give us a trainer version too, complete with blacked-out Boost midsole. The upper here has been reworked slightly compared to the boot, with a mesh knit replacing the leather through the tongue and collar.
