Turning out the lights on their new look setup, PUMA launch the 2021 Eclipse Pack, which sees the Ultra and the King platinum joined by the new Future Z in black suits of stealth.
As has become a regular bi-annual tradition now, PUMA drench their current roster in darkness for what is known as the ‘Eclipse Pack’, with this drop being the fifth in the series since its debut in 2018. This year it sees a subtle shift in terms of its silo setup, with the classic King added to the roster, joining the Ultra, and – for the first time in black – the all-new Future Z.
Creating a monochrome vision of the Future Z, PUMA has quite closely replicated the prototype look of the boot that we saw doing the rounds before Christmas. But as a significant point of difference, the design sees a very unique graphic on the rear foot and heel area. The Future Z has been engineered to enhance the playing style of the world’s most exciting and entertaining players such as main man, Neymar. Built around that signature adaptive FUZIONFIT+ compression band, the boot provides optimal lock-in and support.
Usually, prototypes are blacked out purposefully to hide any upcoming innovations and technologies, but that band stood out on the Future Z, as it does again here, as it could not be fully blacked out, something we found out when we lifted the lid on the next generation boot.
The upper is made from an innovative new knitted material coated with a thin layer of GripControl Pro to provide superior touch and ball control. A cutting-edge Dynamic Motion System outsole has been developed for advanced traction.
And the Future Z is joined by the Ultra, which we've seen in this guise in the 2020 pack. The Ultra features an ultra-lightweight MATRYXEVO upper to provide superior stability, durability and traction for explosive forward motion, speed and acceleration.
And rounding things off is the classic King Platinum, which boasts that premium K-leather upper with 3D ‘touch’ texture for added control, presented in a classic blackout look. Sumptuous.
