Celebrating 30 years since the brand revolutionised its performance wear, adidas have dropped the EQT pack, which sees a Predator Freak+ and .1 and a Predator Accelerator 4D trainer all decked out in the OG EQT colourway, fusing the past with the present for a sweetly struck homage.
The EQT line landed back in 1991, radically adjusting the Three Stripe positioning, both physically and metaphorically, replacing the classic Trefoil logo with the modern Three Stripe branding that features across all performance wear today. To signal that shift, adidas presented its new equipment in a fresh and unmistakeable “Green/White/Black” colourway. In tribute to that launch 30 years ago, that look has now been replicated, albeit with a retouched “Crystal White/Black/ Sub Green” title, and it’s splashed across a laceless Predator Freak+, a low-cut Predator Freak.1, and a Predator Accelerator 4D EQT Trainer.
The pack brings the EQT style on to a football boot for the first time ever, primed and ready to spark a new generation. The driving force of the release as well as the celebration of the 30th anniversary, is the combination of past and present, with Adidas taking one of its most iconic colourways, and combining it with its most iconic franchise; that’s the best technology of adidas Football today in the Predator Freak, wrapped up in the colours of the collection that shook up sports culture back in the ‘90s.
The EQT pack sees white bases across all three footwear pieces, combined with pops of the “Sub Green”. On the Predator Freak + and .1 it’s apparent through the forefoot of the soleplate and through the Demonskin spikes. Real Madrid’s Marco Asensio has already been spotted in the .1 version in training.
Then there’s the Predator Accelerator 4D EQT Trainer, which brings back the Accelerator aesthetics, with a recreation of the iconic upper stylings. It sees the “Sub Green” popping through the rubber elements in the forefoot, wavy mesh panel in the midfoot, and the leather overlay on the heel. The instantly recognisable Three Stripes are presented in black for a standout look. From a construction perspective, the tongue comes in Primeknit, while the forefoot is soft leather.
Ready for the annoying news? The full EQT pack is not currently available in Europe. Rest assured that it’s on its way, but for now those in the US and other select territories can gloat, safe in the knowledge that they can slip into the EQT style ahead of the rest of us.
