Refreshing ranks for the Fall, adidas introduces the ‘NumbersUp’ pack – the first boots inspired by EA Sports FIFA 22. The gaming-inspired boot pack will be worn by some of the biggest names in the game including Ferran Torres, Jude Bellingham, Lena Oberdorf, Joao Felix and Catarina Macario.
We’re right around the corner from the drop of FIFA 22, the latest instalment in the ongoing dynasty, and one of the biggest builders of hype – and causes on controversy – is the unveiling of player ratings. It’s always an event in itself, feeding off player reactions as the numbers are revealed to them. Now adidas takes that occasion as inspiration for its latest boot release, with the ‘NumbersUp’ pack being born from the ratings in FIFA 22, motivating players to improve both on the pitch and in the game.
99 is the highest player rating possible and these boots are powered by that ambition. Blending the real and virtual worlds, the ‘NumbersUp’ launch coincides with the arrival of FIFA 22, which is set to drop on 1 October. Each of the new boot pack designs are inspired by gaming culture, using bold and dynamic colourways and graphics to bring FIFA 22 to life on the pitch.
The pack will be worn by some of adidas’ leading athletes such as Ferran Torres, Jude Bellingham, Lena Oberdorf, Joao Felix & Catarina Macario from 22 September.
Artur Markowski, Senior Product Manager, adidas Football, said: “NumbersUp is an exciting new product that integrates the distinctive language of FIFA into the real world through a bold design that will stand out on the pitch. FIFA Ratings are a powerful motivation for players and 99 is as good as it gets. The new partnership with FIFA 22 will give virtual players the chance to boost their performance through a range of features that inspire every player to reach the top of their game. We hope the boots we’ve created will do the same for players on the pitch.”
