PUMA Drop The 'Flare Pack'

PUMA drop their first on-pitch updates of the year, wrapping the Future Z 1.2 and Ultra 1.4 in new understated colourways for the ‘Flare Pack’.

Ready for a refresh that will take over from the ‘Under the Lights’ pack and see them through the remainder of winter, PUMA launch the ‘Flare Pack’. While you may well see some showboating in them from the likes of Neymar and Griezmann, the flare here relates to the flares set off by fans, and the kaleidoscope of colours that they can create, drawing inspiration from the most passionate matchday atmospheres in world football.

So what we get here are fairly understated base colours, punctuated by strong blasts of colour. For the Future Z 1.2, that’s a “Parisian Night/Neon Citrus/Festival Fuchsia” colourway that sees the “Parisian Night” as the base, with the hits of “Neon Citrus” flashing through the PUMA branding and Future wording that works its way down the instep so prominently. The “Festival Fuchsia” then finishes the look through appearances on the soleplate and through the heel graphic.

Despite the next generation prototype of the Future Z being seen on the feet of players such as Neymar and James Maddison, this isn’t it. We’re still on model 1.2, so no tech upgrades to speak of here.

For the Ultra 1.4 we get an inversion of the colour scheme used on the Future Z, so the slightly more vibrant “Festival Fuchsia” becomes the base colour, while the “Neon Citrus” continues to play supporting role on the branding and Ultra wording. The “Parisian Night” then finishes the look, accenting the collar and heel.

Those keeping tabs will have noted that this is a numerical update, moving from the previous Ultra 1.3, last seen in the “Under the Lights” pack, to 1.4. What that means is that it’s lighter and faster than ever, thanks to the ultra-lightweight MATRYXEVO technology, which combines technical Carbon yarns and transparent Mono yarns to create a high-tech performance material whilst minimising weight. The upper is connected to an internal SPEEDCAGE for lightweight support to keep your foot locked.

Expect the likes of Antoine Griezmann, Kingsley Coman, Ludmila da Silva and Christian Pulisic to be switching into this new Ultra colourway and Neymar, Luis Suárez and Vicky Losada in the Future Z from February onwards.
