Mizuno Bring Back The Wave Ignitus For A Limited Edition Release

Rolling back the clock for a return to 2010, Mizuno bring back the Wave Ignitus, reimagined for the modern game. A limited-edition release, the boot drops in the same two-tone colour worn by Keisuke Honda during the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

The Wave Ignitus is hands down one of the Mizuno’s most iconic football boots of all time. Originally released in 2009, the Wave Ignitus was the pinnacle of the Japanese brand’s production at the time, inheriting the concept of speed and control from its predecessor, the Wave Incision, and building on it to create something entirely new. It boasted that exclusive Mukaiten panel on the instep, which offered the boot its signature look. It was unique in that it was introduced to reduce spin – the opposite of the adidas Predator – to generate unpredictable flight paths.

So what we get here is a modern recreation of the original that pays homage, but also pushes the deign forward. Just one look at the original's soleplate would be enough to realise that 12 years is a long time in football. So in its place is modern, lightweight soleplate built for agility and traction.

The signature Mukaiten “non-spin” Bio Control Panel appears once again, only this time it dominates the medial side. The upper remains built from premium K-leather, carrying with it the mark of quality that is ‘Made in Japan’.

The Mizuno Wave Ignitus is limited to 100 pairs, and you can get them now at prodirectsoccer.com
