Celebrating the strong links that the brand have with what is arguably the greatest club competition in world football, Adidas drop the Champions Code Pack, wrapping the Predator Edge, X Speedflow and COPA Sense in suitable UEFA Champions League stylings.
Back in September last year adidas launched the ‘UCL’ pack, giving us two absolute belters from their archive in the Predator Pulse and F50 Ghosted Prime, both presented in Champions League-inspired colourways. Now the German brand follow that up by offering up their mainstream roster in similar dress, using the iconic stars associated with it as a graphic that spreads across the Predator Edge, X Speedflow, and COPA Sense.
We’ve already had a preview of the X Speedflow on the feet of both Serge Gnabry and, most notably, Karim Benzema as he delivered that hammer blow of a hat trick against PSG, once again ending the Parisian’s hopes of bringing home that most coveted of trophies. Now though we get up close and personal with it, and we’re able to see all of the details contained within that “Purple Rush/Silver Metallic/Mint Rush” colourway. The stars shoot across that upper, altering in size as they traverse across the forefoot. The purple hues wrap around the heel and tongue area, while the mint green controls the forefoot.
Expect to see the likes of Bernardo Silva, Alvaro Morata and Ryan Gravenberch joining Gnabry and Benzema in these.
Moving on to the Predator, and we get a “Team Collegiate Purple/Silver Metallic/Team Shock Pink” colourway that sees the former colour dominate the base and rear of the boot, with the latter present mainly in the rubber elements and the soleplate. The silver then flashes through the branding and the stars, although they are less apparent here than in the other two boots. Rodrigo Bentancur and Koke will be the main outfield players to wear these.
Rounding off the pack is the COPA Sense, which arrives in a “Team Collegiate Purple/Silver Metallic/Mint Rush” look, promoting the silver to a more prominent role and featuring the star graphic a little more distinguishably. The Champions League logo gets a nice little appearance on the instep of the heel, acting as a nice sign off. Look out for Paulo Dybala and Ilkay Gündoğan wearing these.
