Continuing to honour iconic players who’ve achieved great things while wearing their boots, Diadora drop the ‘Pippo Inzaghi’ pack, recreating the “Black/Gold” Brasil that the Italian wore when he bagged a brace in the 2007 Champions League final.

Diadora have a great heritage in the game, with some of the most iconic players of all time having worn their boots. And the brand have been honouring these players with recreations of their boots as part of the Icon Series, which has already seen packs released in homage to George Weah and Marco Van Basten. Bit of a Milan theme going on here and it continues, as next up in this prestigious line is Filippo Inzaghi, with Diadora recreating the look of the boot he wore when he guided Milan to Champions League glory against Liverpool in 2007.

The 2007 final was a replay of the famous 2005 final of Istanbul, where Liverpool upset the odds to overturn a 3-0 halftime scoreline. But two years later Milan were in no mood to make the same mistake again, and they gained their revenge when man-of-the-match Pippo Inzaghi guided the ball past Pepe Reina via a lucky deflection late in the first half, followed by a slick finish late on in the second. That brace was enough to seal the trophy, and he scored them in a “Black/Gold” colourway of the iconic silo.

Now Diadora have recreated the look, complete with the folding tongue and with an added number 9, embroidered on the heel. As with previous Diadora drops, this one is a limited edition with only 207 pairs being available.

As is often the case, the Brasil is partnered with the B Elite Italia, which takes the essence of the original, but adds today’s technology to bring it up to speed with the modern game. You won’t find a tongue here, but it arrives in the same sleek black and gold.
