Mbappe Gets New Signature Edition Nike Air Zoom Mercurial

Nike roll out the special edition treatment on the Air Zoom Mercurial for the first time ever, and the lucky recipient is PSG striker, Kylian Mbappé. The new design arrives as the Frenchman’s fifth signature edition from the Swoosh, and is inspired by the Jordan 7 and Parisian afropop.

Kylian Mbappé is well positioned as the main man to lead Nike Football for the foreseeable future, and as such he receives all the benefits that come along with that status, including a new signature edition Air Zoom Mercurial. It arrives in all its regal glory as the first player edition of the new model, and only the fifth edition of the new generation Mercurial line. Coincidently, it’s also Mbappé’s fifth signature edition from Nike, following on from his debut ‘Bondy’ collection, ‘Mbappé Rosa’, ‘Chosen 2’, and most recently, the ‘Mbappé Flames’ edition.

So what we get for the Frenchman’s fifth signature edition is a “Dark Beetroot/University Blue/Metallic Vivid Gold” colourway, presented with the beetroot colour as the base, which is then accentuated by the presence of the gold accents, which pop through the branding. Speaking of which, the Swoosh gets a sneaky little signature addition (see what we did there? Yeah, OK, we'll stop now) with the presence of a kink that forms an ‘M’. It’s one of a few callouts to its namesake, with the ‘KM’ logo also featuring on the collar, in the traditional tongue area. The Air branding on the instep also features a smart pattern, while the heel contrasts nicely in the blue colouring, with further purple and red accents.

Mbappé will lace up in the Superfly IX edition of the boot, but there is also a Vapor XV edition available for those that favour the more traditional collar-less fit. All eyes on the PSG frontman to catch a glimpse of these boots in training, while it's likely he will debut them in tomorrow nights Champions League clash with Juventus.
