Kicking off the new year with a blast from the past, adidas have just dropped the Predator Precision Archive, bringing back the iconic look that was first released in 2000 for a limited edition run.
It was always going to be tough to follow on from the Accelerator – one of the most iconic looks for one of the most iconic silos of all time – but with the introduction of the Precision, adidas nailed it, releasing the new look ahead of Euro 2000. As well as those revamped Three Stripes the Precision was the first Predator boot to make the transition from rubber fins to thinner, more frequent ribs which increased the spin that could be put on the ball. It also came with Velcro on the fold-over tongue and replaceable Traxion studs, both firsts for the Predator line. It’s a look that instantly conjures memories of David Beckham scoring that free kick against Greece to send England to the World Cup and the multiple spilled pints that followed, and now it’s back.
The look of the Precision is one that is synonymous with Beckham, and so the Predator Precision Archive release suitably takes on an all-new colourway that was also a special look for the former England captain; a look that featured on a signature Predator LZ edition sported by him during his LA Galaxy days in 2012 – a colourway that was homaged early last year with the Predator LZ DB as part of the ‘Unite Football’ pack.
And so it arrives in an official “Ftwr White/Core Black/Team Shock Pink” colourway, with a white base playing host to the black branding and rubber elements, while that flash of pink is reserved for the iconic tongue.
As with all Predator rereleases, the Precision Archive sees modern retooling included to ensure that it can stand up to the rigours of the modern game.
