On Thursday, Harry Kane became England’s all-time leading goal scorer when he netted from the spot in the Euro 2024 qualifier against Italy, and to mark the achievement Nike has presented the striker with a special edition pair of Phantom GX football boots, which he wore – and scored in, of course – against Ukraine.
Harry Kane is now out on his own as England’s all-time leading scorer, with his goal against Italy putting him one ahead of Wayne Rooney on the leader board, although the 29-year-old has done so in 39 less games than Rooney. Another against Ukraine three days later was simply the start of what the Spurs striker will be hoping will be an unassailable lead when he finally calls time on his England career. And that last one was scored while Kane was wearing a special Phantom GX, presented to him by Nike to celebrate the achievement of his new record.
Hot on the heels of setting the Spurs record, Harry Kane just carries on doing what he does best: scoring goals. He opened his England tally a mere 79 seconds into his debut and he hasn't looked back since, winning a World Cup Golden Boot and setting an impressive stat of more than a goal a game in major tournament qualifiers. And it his uncanny ability to find the back of the net that has seen him set the Three Lions record, and Nike have been quick to honour that achievement.
The design of Kane's Phantom GX sees a white base with a busy graphic overlay that includes a tribute to his three children, with their names and dates of birth visible on the side of the boot, as well as various English flags, banners and crests. The Swoosh adorns the forefoot in gold, while the heel features a stylised execution of the word "Kane 54" in gold in place of the usual Phantom GX wording.
The soleplate then features a newspaper-inspired graphic, with the number 54 again featuring prominently. These are one-of-one boots, created specifically for Kane, and they therefore won't be available for retail.
