Nike Celebrate 25 Years Of Mercurial With The Air Zoom Mercurial XXV

The Mercurial celebrates its 25 year anniversary this year, and as part of the celebrations, Nike have rolled out special limited edition versions of the Air Zoom Mercurial Vapor XV and Superfly IX, wrapping them in silver and chrome.

1998 was a special year for football, underlined by the World Cup in France, which, among many other things, gave us Ronaldo and the all-new Nike Mercurial. Scary for those of a certain age to think that that was now 25 years ago, but it’s true, and to celebrate the quarter century mark of one of the most influential boots on the market, Nike have rolled out a special edition version of the current Air Zoom model, which is available in both Vapor XV and Superfly IX models.

The special editions come in an official colourway of “Metallic Silver/Black/Wolf Grey”, the design sees a special graphic of historical Mercurial logos in a homage to the different eras since 1998. There’s then a special “MXXV” logo on the medial side of the boot in blue, the colour tying in with the Swoosh that swoops across the forefoot. A shimmering chrome forefoot soleplate finishes the special edition vibes.

This is a limited edition drop, with just 2,500 pairs being available globally, and as such all boots will be numbered. Good luck to getting hold of a pair – fingers at the ready… and go!
