Following on from the special limited edition Air Zoom Mercurial that was released earlier this week to celebrate the silo’s 25 year anniversary, Nike offer up a wider pack release that features both the Superfly IX and Vapor XV, with each bearing the same design details as the SE version.
The Mercurial sits as the second longest lasting silo in Nike’s roster behind only the Tiempo. This year it celebrates its 25 year anniversary, and as part of those celebrations Nike released a limited Air Zoom Mercurial XXV edition, and with just 2,500 pairs being available globally, it flew off the shelves. Now, the Swoosh extends the celebration with a pack that takes its design cues directly from that limited edition release.
So, both the Vapor XV and Superfly IX arrive in the same silvery hues that featured on the limited edition version, and that’s completed by the same special graphic of historical Mercurial logos spread across the upper in a homage to the different eras since 1998. They also feature the same Roman numeral “XXV” execution on the medial side, a reference to the 25 years.
The main difference comes from the additional colours, with black being used on the collar and tongue area. The Vapor and Superfly differ through the accent colour, with the former featuring volt and the latter pink, each of which pop through the Swoosh branding and the soleplate.
