Writing himself into the history books once again, Neymar Jr became Brazil’s all-time top-scorer over the weekend when he netted two goals in a 5-1 win over Bolivia, and PUMA were quick to honour their athlete with a special Future boot.
Despite heading out to the Saudi pro league, Neymar Jr. is still a prime player for both Brazil and PUMA, and this was emphasised by his recent brace in the World Cup qualifier against Bolivia, which set him out on his own as the nation’s record goal-scorer. The double took his tally for the Selecao to 79 goals, surpassing the great Pele’s total of 78. To mark the achievement, PUMA presented the forward with a special version of the Future Ultimate.
"I never imagined reaching this record. I want to say that I am not a better player than Pele," Neymar said in a post-game interview. "I always wanted to make my own story, write my name in the history of Brazilian football and the national team. And today I did that.”
Unlike the recently released Future Ultimate 'Instituto', Neymar's latest signature edition boot, in which he scored his record-breaking brace, this latest signature style likely won't get a wider release, which is a shame as it's a beautiful design. It sees an off-white upper that features graphics predominantly in the forefoot joined by a golden soleplate. It's difficult to see what the details of the boot, given that there was only one picture released. Brazil face Peru tomorrow, and it will be interesting to see if Neymar sticks with the 'Instituto' signature edition Future Ultimate, or if he swaps it out for this special edition.
