Throughout 2023, online retail brand Pro:Direct Soccer has been celebrating its 25th anniversary with some of the most decadent drops of the year, collaborating with some of the biggest sporting brands in the world to bring us some very special edition releases, and here we round them all up in one place.
1998 gave us a bunch of wonderful things, from the World Cup in France and the debut of the Nike Mercurial to the adidas Predator Accelerator – one of the best Predators of all time. And it also gave us Pro:Direct Soccer, which has gone on to become one of the largest online sport retailers in the world. Now, 25 years on, they've been celebrating their anniversary with the help of the biggest sports brands in the world, releasing
First out of the traps was a partnership with PUMA, with the Future x PowerCat ‘Tokyo’ taking the current Future Ultimate boot and dressing it out in what is one of the most visually striking looks in PUMA’s back catalogue, namely 2011’s PowerCat ‘Tokyo’.
adidas Predator Accelerator '25th Anniversary Edition'
Quite possibly the pick of the lot, the adidas Predator Accelerator made a triumphant return in limited fashion, combining its own 25th anniversary with that of Pro:Direct's. Silver chrome was subbed on in place of white in the otherwise classic Predator colourway. Special doesn't even cut it.
Pantofola d'Oro 25th Anniversary Edition Lazzarini
Shimmering in silver, this special edition version of the Lazzarini was limited to just 98 pairs worldwide, with each boot being numbered accordingly on the back of the heel. On the insole, the phrase “25 years of obsession” featured alongside dual branding.
Lotto Limited Edition Gold Stadio
Something of a joint celebration this one, with Lotto also celebrating its 50th anniversary. Only 500 pairs of the sumptuous golden Stadio were mae, and they were again numbered on the heel.
Celebrating 75 years of PUMA and 25 years of Pro:Direct, teh German brand's second hook up saw just 100 pairs of the individually numbered King Top 75 + 25 boots launch worldwide (75+25 – get it?). A classy silver presentation saw regular King branding joined by the Pro:Direct logo on the heel.
Arriving hot on the heels of the King Top 75+25, the King Ultimate 75+25 edition was the modern day performance alternative to the more traditional feeling King Top. Inverting the colour scheme, the clean white base was joined by silver accents. Once again, it featured dual branding on the heel.
Nike joined in the celebrations by providing an exclusive “Metallic Silver/Black/Volt” colourway for the grassroots champion in their ranks, the Premier III.
Following on from the golden Stadio, which was released in part to celebrate the brand's own 50th anniversary, this time full focus was given to Pro:Direct, with an exclusive edition of the Lotto Solista 200. Just 150 pairs were available, with each pair individually numbered on the heel. The silver base was once again appropriate for the occasion, and it featured staple green accents that are synonymous with the Lotto Stadio series. A nice callout to the '25 Years of Obsession' mantra that accompanied Pro:Direct's celebrations appeared on the forefoot.
adidas Adipure 11Pro 2 Blackout
Following on from the popular rerelease of the iconic Adipure 11Pro 2, adidas produced a limited edition blackout version for Pro:Direct Soccer’s 25th anniversary. Oozing sleek appeal out of every stitch mark on that sumptuous cushioned upper, where others had gone celebration, this was pure seduction.
PUMA Ultra Ultimate 'Legacy Of Speed'
PUMA and Pro:Direct Soccer paired up once again, and this time it was for 'Legacy of Speed': a special edition drop created for the retailer's 25th anniversary that featured a combination of graphics lifted from PUMA’s fastest boots throughout the years.
Just 198 pairs of the New Balance Furon V7 x PDS25 Special Edition were produced, with the design recognising the landmark year for Pro:Direct Soccer with a silver upper and a 1998:2023 graphic applied to the heel. The sockliner then featured the '25 Years of Obsession' callout.
Diadora Brasil Italy OG x PD25 SE
Italian craft masters Diadora jumped on board with the celebrations by creating a limited version of their Brasil boot. As well as celebrating Pro:Direct’s 25th anniversary, the gold Made In Italy Brasil OG honoured Diadora’s bootmaking heritage by incorporating the Italian flag into their famous logo.
