Umbro Reveal The All-New Velocita Matrix

Shifting gears for the 24/25 season as we rapidly head towards Autumn and Winter, Umbro have revealed the latest incarnation of the Velocita, the brand’s speed silo, and it’s called the Velocita Matrix.

The Umbro Velocita has been a fixture in the game for almost a decade now, and during that time it has naturally gone through an evolutionary process that has seen eight different incarnations. In 2022, the brand launched the Velocita Alchemist – the seventh instalment and probably the most revolutionary take on the silo since its debut. Featuring ProWeave, a patented world-first woven technology, everything on the boot’s upper — from TPU structures for stability to water-proofing — was created on a fibre-level. The result was a lighter, more durable boot that provided an amazing second-skin feel. Of course, that new technology has also evolved, and the Velocita Elixir followed on. Now though, as Umbro celebrate their centenary year, we get the ninth version: the Velocita Matrix.

Presented in a launch colourway of “Poseidon/Blazing Yellow/White”, its revolutionary ProWeave upper is again designed to stretch 4-ways, adapting to the foot’s natural shape to provide range of motion without restriction. The unique one-piece upper seamlessly combines the tongue and main body, creating that singular ‘second skin’ fit. An internal support frame provides security for short, sharp, quick turns of pace. In a strive for more sustainability, the upper of the new Velocita Matrix Pro contains 85 percent recycled content.

While the changes on the upper are more tweaks than anything, it’s on teh underside that the Velocita Matrix comes into its own. There, you’ll find the new Propulsion + outsole, which has been designed to provide more speed and agility with an integrated forefoot plate and a support spine for stability and added energy return for each stride. The outsole is ‘Pebax Powered’ and is manufactured using biobased materials. The unique Pebax Rnew formula uses castor oil derived from castor beans as the primary material in the production process. Finally, particular attention has been paid to the aesthetic of the outsole, with extra toe spring in the forefoot and increased stud length to provide a quick response and maximum traction.

The Umbro Velocita Matrix will be available at umbro.co.uk from 12 September.
