Hooking up with French sculptor and Neo-pop artist Richard Orlinksi, PUMA have dropped the limited edition Future x Orlinski, fusing the artist’s unmistakeable style with the world of football.

Many people would argue that football can be its own art form – consider that perfectly weighted through ball, a curving shot that arcs its way into the net, or a beautifully timed tackle to deny an almost certain goal. But in a more literal sense, the crossover between the worlds of art and football tend to only go one way, with artists often expressing their passion for the beautiful game through their creativity. Now though it goes the other way thanks to a new, limited edition collaboration between PUMA and French sculptor and Neo-pop artist Richard Orlinksi.

Orlinksi is renowned for fusing elements of pop culture and animal forms into his sculptures and his work is famous worldwide for being instantly recognisable. And the special edition PUMA Future x Orlinski features a design that combines all of the key performance elements of the Future 7 with Orlinski’s electrifying works of art. The black base is the perfect canvas for Orlinski’s neon party to play, and his iconic sculpture style wraps around the entire upper with bright call outs across the PUMA power tape technology, while his signature is also present on the front of the boot. The PUMA cat branding on the heel also lends itself perfectly to Orlinski’s work, with the iconic animal getting a pop-art makeover that spells out Orlinksi’s name within.

While the speed of the Ultra lent itself perfectly to the Mexico Formula 1 homage design that dropped recently, the craft and control of the Future sees it as the right fit for a more artistic angle, as displayed here.

We said these are limited edition, right? As any good work of art should be. But to clarify, there’s just 500 pairs of these boots available worldwide, so if you fancy a pair, quit reading this and get on with ordering a pair before it’s too late.
