PUMA & Pro:Direct Drop The Limited Edition Ultra x Mexico

Taking their obsession with speed to new heights, PUMA have partnered with Pro:Direct Soccer to release a special edition of the Ultra Ultimate, which features details inspired by the Mexico Grand Prix.

Following on from the recent ‘Formula Pack’ as well as collaborations with the likes of BMW, Ferrari, Ducati and Porsche, PUMA’s relationship with speed continues to develop as the German brand partner with online retailer Pro:Direct Soccer for an F1-inspired design for the Ultra Ultimate. With a beautifully bespoke presentation, the Ultra Ultimate x Mexico is inspired by Mexican Grand Prix, the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez.

The official colourway here is “Black/Red/Green”, but as is often the case with these types of vibrant designs, that barely scratches the surface. The black base is overlaid by red and green graphics that mirror the national colours. Those graphics include track details across the upper with numbers that reference corners on the iconic stadium section of the track, where it’s built into part of an old baseball stadium – The Foro Sol, the fastest lap time, and the track length.

The Mexican flag colours feature on the tongue fading into a chequered flag as it descends in a tidy execution, while the eye-catching serpent riding down the side acts as a dual reference to both the heritage of PUMA’s Evospeed line and Mexican culture in general. Plus, you can’t beat sticking a big old dragon on things, can you?

The insole features a dual-branded Pro:Direct and PUMA podium wreath, while an aztec style design rides up the heel.
