Rising Women’s Boot Brand IDA Release The ‘Breast Self Pack’

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, and IDA Sport have released the Limited Edition ‘Breast Self Pack’ in support of the work of Know Your Lemons, to expand conversations around breast health and support early detection of breast cancer.

To start with here, lets get an introduction to IDA, a relatively new brand on the block. IDA is a woman-founded, led and focused organisation that is using science and research to design football boots for the unique biomechanics of girls and women’s feet. By now, most people are aware of the higher risk of injuries, particularly ACL-related, for women, and in recent years, Nike, adidas, PUMA, and New Balance have all launched football boots tailored to women's biomechanics to reduce these risks. But IDA are taking that a step further, being 100 percent dedicated to the women’s game, and as a result they are leading the way when it comes to creating the sports science around female-specific design in football boots.

And their focus on women segues perfectly into their latest release, the ‘Breast Self Pack’. Comprised of the brand’s Rise Elite FG/AG and IDA Rise Turf models, the limited edition pack has been designed in partnership with the Know Your Lemons Foundation, which was founded in 2014 by Dr. Corrine Ellsworth-Beaumont as an initiative to help improve early detection of breast cancer through symptoms and screening education in a fun, accessible, and inclusive way. The pack carries an important message, giving back to the nonprofit to fund education on breast health, as education = action. The idea behind the design is simply to start conversations, but the conversations around breast health should be happening all year round and the topics of discussion should be all encompassing.

So let’s dive into the boots themselves. To start with like all IDA boots, the IDA Rise Elite is specially designed for the female foot using a women-specific last. Seems obvious given what we’ve banged on about above, but it’s worth repeating for those not listening at the back of the class.

The IDA Rise Elite also boasts a number of features designed to improve the overall comfort of the boot. First up, there’s a greater elastane content in the sock for easy on-off action and foot entry, combined with an open weave for breathability. A new mid-density foam package paired with an injection moulded heel counter then delivers a snugger heel fit to enhance stability and improve heel lockdown.

There’s also a durable 3D moulded PE insole for great under foot comfort. The newly engineered insole board promotes improved flex, reducing pressure on toes and enhancing the foot’s natural movement.

Flipping back to the upper, and the brand’s WAVEKNIT technology sees a fully knitted upper that’s combined with a lightweight TPU skin to provide a snug fit, with WMNSFIT+ lightweight material composite under the TPU.

The Breast Self editions feature a white base with pink accents, notable through the stud tips, laces and insoles, while the soleplate features a repeating graphic of hand-drawn boobs – told you these boots were to get you talking!

The IDA Breast Self Pack is available now at idasports.com. From now through the end of February 2025, IDA is donating $10 for every pair sold from the Limited Edition Breast Self Pack to Know Your Lemons.

NOTE: Limited Edition Breast Self Pack is only available within the US at this time.
