A new signature style is on the cards for Kylian Mbappé, with Nike revealing a new player edition Mercurial for the Frenchman. The design celebrates the partnership between the brand and the player, with details nodding to his past signature edition boots.
No sooner has Kylian Mbappé debuted the new Nike Mercurial x Air Max 95 boot on pitch than Nike have bestowed upon him a new instalment in the Real Madrid man’s signature series. The Swoosh have dropped the Mercurial Superfly and Vapor Elite x Mbappé, and it’s a release that reads like a love letter to their creative journey together — a premium piece of storytelling stitched in gold and purple.
Steeped in heritage and dripping in detail, the boot design serves up a greatest hits of Mbappé’s signature line to date. Every element is purposeful. Every graphic, every colour hit — a nod to the past, a look to the future.
First up, the lightning bolt from the standout “Rosa” drop in 2020 cracks across the upper, offering raw electricity to the design. Then there’s the flames graphic — lifted straight from his 2021 edition — flickering with that all-gas, no-brakes energy that defines his game. The M> heel lock-up cues nostalgia, throwing it back to his 2018 debut PE, Rising Fire, while the Swoosh detail pulls us right back to Bondy, referencing the ‘Bondy Dreams’ boots from 2019 — a love letter to the place that made him.
And just when you think it’s all been said, the inside of the boot reveals a detailed sock liner, etched with Mbappé insignia and stars that hint at his limitless ceiling. You can’t script the kind of trajectory he’s on, but Nike are doing a hell of a job designing for it.
Drenched in a regal “Grand Purple/Pale Ivory” colourway with gold-lined finishes throughout, this one is as much a collector’s piece as it is a performance weapon. It’s confidence. It’s class. It’s Mbappé.
