Nike continue the hype from the recent return of the Hypervenom OG with yet another RGN, this time arriving in the groundbreaking ‘Hydra Transform’ colourway. Released back in 2015, this boot technology truly changed the game, transforming colour when heat activated, or in this case – water. Well, rainy matchdays just got better once again.
Without being too opinionated, the Hypervenom's comeback is a beautiful sight. The thought of a boot that took both the pitch and streets by storm back in 2013, reincarnated into an era that so desperately loves a taste of the archives – it ticks all the boxes. So when Nike finally, after months of rumours, revived the OG Hypervenom colourway (launched none other than the Joga Bonito star boy Neymar in 2013) it once again changed the beautiful game of football for the good. The hype doesn't stop there fortunately, as the swoosh gift us with another colourway of this iconic silo. Finessed with ground-breaking technology and innovation, the 'Transform Hydra' Hypervenom is nothing short of genius – altering colour as the upper gets wet.
When this boot technology hit the game in 2015, Nike proved more than ever that they really are at the top of the football boot industry. Unlike anything we had ever seen, the original 'Transform' elevated hot, sunny matchdays, as ballers couldn't wait to see the colour transform as their boots get warm. Whether it's for slide tackles, rainbow flicks or bicycle kicks – this boot was perfect for it all. If you had a pair of these everyone one knew you could play ball, that's for sure. They now move on from the heat of the previous Transform, and take into icy waters with this Hydra version. The Swoosh are seriously here for the fans, they heard the people talk and they are providing. Keep the Hypervenoms coming please...
The latest RGN created by Nike brings back all that nostalgia from 10 years ago, and we are here for it. Arriving in a translucent grey, splashes of water transform this subtle upper into bright pops of blue and black – a striking colour palette for a striking boot. Fashioned with that soft Hypervenom I upper, it maximises touch and control, whilst the added stability of the Hypervenom III soleplate ensures this boot is the perfect blend of performance and aesthetic. Whilst some may be disappointed that the classic looks of the OG soleplate does not feature, this outsole includes more cutting-edge technology and provides stability and traction.
As like the Hypervenom OG, get ready to see some top-class athletes repping these boots, with Lautaro Martinez set to be lacing these up for the Champions League final this weekend. Let's hope for a great game and lots of rain...
The game is officially back.
