It is officially Club World Cup time, and Nike have sorted all their athletes out with the perfect boots for the occasion – dropping the ‘Fear Nothing’ pack featuring the all-new Phantom 6. Each silo fashions its own distinctive colourway, all bold and all as clean as they come, with the new generation of Phantom taking the spotlight.
The Nike boot drops seem to be coming fast and hard at the moment, and we aren’t mad about it. Following the unveiling of the all-new Phantom 6 launch edition last week, it makes its inaugural appearance in a full Nike pack, arriving as part of the eye-catching ‘Fear Nothing’ pack. The Mercurial and Tiempo both see visual updates, whilst the Phantom is updated for a new generation to maximise touch and control for all the playmakers this summer.
Starting with some familiar faces, the Mercurial XVI and Tiempo Legend arrive with the same technology we know and love. The established speed boot sees the return of the original Swoosh positioning on the lateral side of the upper, a feature which hadn’t been seen on this latest gen up until now. One of the cleanest colourways of Mercurials we have seen in a while, the ‘Fear Nothing’ edition sees a pristine white base elevated with a red gradient along the bottom of the Gripknit upper and soleplate.
Reimagining the classic colourways we have seen previously of Tiempo, Nike go bold with a vibrant emerald green. Yes, that’s right, a green Tiempo. It’s courageous and audacious from Nike, but they say no risk, no reward. The entirety of the FlyTouch Plus upper is engulfed in green, whilst pops of yellow, white, and black feature across the silo. The Club World Cup is not ready for this one.
Since it’s a completely new gen of Phantom, let’s get into the details of what this boot is all about. Crafted for those Kevin De Bruyne-esque ballers, this boot is every bit performance driven as it is aesthetically pleasing. Whether it’s to play the perfect Trivela through ball or curl one top bins from outside the box – it thrives off it all. Shaped by data and driven by athlete demand, Nike did not miss a single detail with this gen, packing it with cutting edge technology. A refined Gripknit upper sits on the silo, tuned to offer a softer feel through a microtextured surface. The strike zone is updated, adding an extra grip layered in, delivering greater ball manipulation and lethal precision. The Phantom 6 makes its pack debut in a deep blue and white colourway, keeping it simple – no need to be flashy when the boot simply speaks for itself. A reminiscence of the iconic Hypervenom silo lives on within this boot, with the reversed Swoosh on the heel bringing back that 2013 nostalgia. It’s clean, it’s precise, and it's here to cause problems for defenders.
With players such as Valverde, João Neves and Marcos Llorente already lacing this pack up on the training pitch, expect to see a 'Fear Nothing' take over during the FIFA Club World Cup starting this weekend. If the boots are anything to tell how this tournament is going to go, we are in for a great summer...
