Following the reveal of the latest adidas x Kith collection, Sam Handy has dropped a little something for the boot connoisseurs – and it’s pure venom. Taking to his socials, the adidas VP of Product Creative teased a sublime F50 Spider x Kith Friends & Family edition, and it’s the kind of drop that makes you wish you were tighter with Handy and Ronnie Fieg.
There's been some strong rumours of a return in some form for the iconic F50+ 'Spider', which originally debuted back in 2004. Now we get our strongest hint yet, with the tease of a very special edition, produced as part of the adidas x Kith partnership. The boot itself is laced with luxury. That signature spider-web graphic comes cloaked in a dark brown upper, set off by a snakeskin-patterned lace cover that screams premium execution. Chrome-like bronze detailing runs across the heel counter, giving the design a regal flourish that elevates the already iconic silhouette. Dual branding – adidas and Kith – seals the collab with authority.
Like recent adidas remakes, this F&F edition keeps faith with the heritage look of the 2004 F50+, while upgrading the ride with the modern Sprintframe 360 outsole. The result? Throwback football energy with contemporary performance tech.
As well as the recently revealed collection, earlier this year adidas x Kith dropped two Predator Mania editions as part of the ‘Made in Germany’ line. But this? This feels different. This feels rarified. With it being mooted as a Friends & Family edition only, the F50+ Spider x Kith sits firmly in grail territory, destined to stay in the hands (and on the feet) of a very select few.
Special doesn’t even cover it. This is the one that got away.
