To coincide with the UEFA Champions League draw for the 2017/18 Group Stage, adidas have rolled out the official match ball to be used throughout the first stage of the competition. The Finale 17 ball takes the iconic UCL stars and freshens them up for the new campaign.
The design in question is titled 'Thunderstorm' (the theme for the upcoming boot collection from the Three Stripes) and comes infused with new energy thanks to a dramatic blue and turquoise graphic inside the famous stars. Colour-wise it's convenient match to a mix of the away and third shirts of the current Champions League holders Real Madrid, and that ain't a bad thing.
Away from the new graphic design on the stars, it's very much the same ball we've had for the last couple of seasons now. As per usual this design will be used in the group stages only, with adidas expected to launch a new design for the knockout stages, that'll be used right up to the final in Kiev, Ukraine.
