Major League Soccer and adidas have unveiled the official match ball for the 2019 MLS season, and it's called the adidas Nativo Questra. The design of the Nativo Questra draws huge inspiration from adidas’s 1994 World Cup ball, the Questra, paying homage to the only World Cup to be held on US soil.
The 1994 Questra featured a galaxy design that tied back to the US team kits worn in that tournament, while also celebrating the 25th anniversary of the iconic 1969 Apollo 11 mission. The Nativo Questra takes this a step further, with a much more intricate graphic, celebrating the now-50th anniversary of that important mission. Quite the story for a ball.
In a case of if it ain't broke, adidas have utilised the same panelling as the Telstar 18, this year's World Cup ball, although internally they've added an improved carcass construction.
The Nativo Questra will first be seen on-pitch from January 3-9 at the MLS adidas Player Combine and then at the MLS SuperDraft in Chicago on January 11, when adidas Soccer and MLS clubs celebrate their commitment to youth development. Following that it will obviously be present in February during MLS preseason games, and throughout the 2019 MLS season.
