adidas has unveiled the official match ball for the knockout phase of the 2024/25 UEFA Champions League, set to hit the pitch from February 11. Paying tribute to Munich, the host city of this season’s final, the design fuses tradition with innovation, reflecting the cultural and architectural essence of Bavaria.

Arriving on the heels of the Women’s UCL knockout ball, the men’s knockout ball stays true to the iconic UEFA Champions League aesthetic, featuring crisp white stars alongside hexagonal panels in a bold green and copper colourway. This palette is inspired by the final’s host city Munich’s rooftops and landmarks, as well as the gateway to the Bavarian Alps. Further embedding the region’s identity, intricate details within the panels highlight symbols of Bavaria, including the Palatine Lion, Edelweiss, the Waldlerhaus, the English Garden, and Hops.

Beyond aesthetics, this latest adidas creation is engineered for elite-level performance. The PRISMA surface, with its debossing pattern, ensures optimal precision and swerve. A textured outer coating enhances grip and control, while the thermally bonded seamless construction delivers superior aerodynamics. At its core, the groundbreaking CTR-CORE is designed for accuracy and consistency, incorporating a zero-waste bladder made from renewable natural rubber, reinforced with a double-patched PES fabric for enhanced durability.

Sustainability is also a key focus, with this edition integrating more bio-based materials than any previous UEFA Champions League match ball. Elements such as corn fibres, sugar cane, wood pulp, and rubber replace traditional components, maintaining peak performance while pushing the boundaries of eco-conscious design. Expect to see this beauty making history under the brightest lights from 11 February.
