Running Creative Director Sam Handy has become the latest specialist to step in front of the camera for adidas’s online ‘Creator U Class’, sharing some insights into the processes behind creating some of the most iconic designs of the last decade, including the Limited Edition Paul Pogba ACE 16+ Purecontrol.
Released partly in celebration of the Frenchman joining the Three Stripes in the first place, the Paul Pogba ACE 16+ Purecontrol was the very definition of special edition with a mere thirty pairs going into production. Pogba himself then selected those that got the lucky honour of owning a pair. Labeled 'POGBOOM' and 'POGBANCE' down each heel, the combination of a strong black with treasured gold made for an almighty celebration of on pitch glory, punctuated by Pogba’s slamming strike in Juve’s game against Bayern Munich.
Airing every Friday, the Creator U Classes bring viewers insights from some the most intriguing and informed characters in the adidas community, based on questions and requests from anyone in the Hometeam crew. The first instalment saw Jon Wexler, General Manager of YEEZY, sharing insights on where he finds inspiration, and that was followed up by this week’s instalment with Sam Handy, who talks about putting innovation at the core of what you do, the role of sketching, creating iconic designs, getting started in design, and the future of running innovation. During this, he reflected on the pride he felt when Pogba opened the scoring in Juve's Champions League second leg game against Bayern Munich, a game the Old Lady ended up losing 4-2.
Look out for the next Creator U Class this Friday on adidas’s YouTube channel.
