Luka Modric (Real Madrid) Nike Mercurial Vapor XII
Fresh from scooping the Ballon d'Or, Luka Modric had been seen training in his Nike Mercurial 'Touch of Gold' boots this week, but there was conjecture about whether he would wear them on pitch. That was silenced on the weekend when he wore them as Real Madrid beat Huesca 0-1.
David Luiz (Chelsea) Nike Magista Obra II
David Luiz could have his own page dedicated to the variety of Nike boots he wears, however, with him notching in Chelsea's win over high-flying Man City on the weekend, his choice of the Magista Obra from the 'Fast AF' Pack was worth a shout out here. This was one of the last colourways for the since retired Magista.
James McClean (Stoke) Nike Mercurial GS 360
With only 2018 pairs made available globally, you had to be pretty quick to get a pair of the 2018 Nike Mercurial Superfly GS 360. James McClean was obviously quick with the clicker. He showed off his pair when he came off the bench in Stoke's 2-0 win over Ipswich.
Yuriy Yakovenko (Esbjerg FB) adidas X 17+
In the swathes of blues, reds and volt that currently dominate the pitches at the moment, green stands out. Well it did on the feet of striker Yuriy Yakovenko in the Danish Superliga anyway. The Ukraininan, in his adidas X 17+ 'Deadly Strike' boots, was unable to prevent his Esbjerg side from being dismantled by table topping F.C. Copenhagen.
Maya Yoshida (Southampton) Unknown Mizuno
Maya Yoshida is the player to watch if you want to get a sneak peek at what Mizuno are up to. He recently played for Japan in the 'Rising Sun' Rebula ahead of release and now he's been spotted in a mystery black out boot during training with Southampton. The defender was back in his regular boots for the weekend's loss to Cardiff, although he didn't get on the pitch.
Roger Martinez (Club América) Nike Mercurial Vapor XII
For the semi final second leg against Pumas UNAM, Club América striker Roger Martinez laced up in the Nike Mercurial Vapor XII that was released as part of the 'Heritage iD Pack' before the World Cup this year. Martinez opted for the boot that paid homage to the 2006 colourway as the closest match to his kit. He went on to score in them as Club América demolished Pumas 6-1 on the day, 7-2 on aggregate.
Josh Gould (Swansea) Nike CTR 360 Maestri III
Josh Gould made headlines recently by signing his first professional contract with Swansea after making the transition from rugby to football. And now he's caught the eye again, this time for his throwback boot choice. The U-23 keeper trained in a crimson pair of Nike CTR 360 from 2014.
Max Power (Sunderland) adidas Predator Accelerator
In what has to be the most appropriate boot to player name relationship ever seen, the excellently named Max Power took to the field for Sunderland this week in a pair of re-released adidas Predator Accelerators in that stunning OG colourway. You'll never tire of seeing these on pitch.
Scott Sinclair (Celtic) Nike Mercurial Vapor XII
Scott Sinclair took to the field in a custom Nike Mercurial Vapor XII, matching the bursts of green to the Hoops' own green. OK, so it wasn't a perfect match, but it was a good effort. Celtic went on to give Kilmarnock a little reality check after their fine start to the season with a 5-1 mauling.
Dani Alves (Paris Saint-Germain) Nike Mercurial Vapor XII
After a brief flirtation with adidas, Dani Alves has once again been seen in Nike, wearing the Mercurial Vapor XII in PSGs draw with Strasbourg. Is he just playing the field, keeping his options open, or has he re-signed with Nike? Watch this space...
