Kitted out for the occasion, Son Heung-Min has been spotted training in an upcoming colourway for the adidas X Speedportal, ahead of Tottenham’s Champions League opener against Marseille tomorrow night.

Adidas has previous in releasing special boot packs for the Champions League, with the 2021 ‘UCL Pack’ and 2022’s ‘Champions Code’ pack. Now it looks as though we may be getting another addition to that line for the 22/23 season after Son Heung-Min was spotted wearing an unreleased silver colourway of the X Speedportal + in Tottenham’s latest training session, ahead of their first 22/23 Champions League group stage game, home to Marseille.

Now, we’re not saying that Son’s X Speedportal is definitely part of an upcoming UCL-inspired pack, but it certainly shares some startling colour similarities with the recently revealed match balls for the competition.

So, what we get is a silver base with some vibrant colour pops through the heel and Three Stripe branding in the forefoot. The women’s match ball has a silver base, while the men’s ball features the same multicolour execution as the boot in its iconic star design, making this X Speedportal look like a combination of both. Probably a fairly safe bet that this one will drop in the near future, but all eyes on the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the meantime to see if Son gives them an official debut, although there are other fixtures tonight to keep an eye on…

UPDATE:

Sure enough, Son wore the new look X Speedportal in Spurs' 2-0 victory over Marseille on Wednesday, giving us a great close up look at all the details of the new look boot. Next to the match ball, those colours are a pretty good fit.
