2024 marks a big birthday for Umbro, with the British brand celebrating its 100th birthday. The Double Diamond kicks off its centenary celebrations in style with a fresh global campaign and collection for Spring/Summer ‘24.

Not every year that you turn 100. Since 1924, Umbro has redefined the sportswear landscape, from pioneering collabs with genre-defining brands including Aries, Palace and Supreme, to partnerships with professional and grassroots football teams. Now, along with expecting their letter from the King, the brand has gone about lighting the fuse on their own centenary celebrations with a fresh clothing capsule for Spring/Summer ’24, which is inspired by Umbro’s Manchester heritage, rich design history and multi-sports roots, with particular emphasis on football.

Combining sports-inspired themes with trend-led silhouettes, the collection reimagines Umbro’s function-first sporting designs for a new trend-savvy generation for whom the lines between sportswear and fashion have never been more blurred.

A highlight of the collection is the Ramsey Jacket, which for this season is reinterpreted into a fully reversible piece with one-side featuring a striking monogram matte/shine jacquard and the other-side a diamond graphic gradient. The Ramsey stripe is proudly emblazoned across the bomber collar, cuffs, and waistband, with the brand’s heritage-inspo ‘filled-in’ diamond placed on the right of the chest, true to the 1960’s original.

The Anthem Track Jacket and Track Pant feature Umbro’s monogram matte/shine double knit jacquard and a tailored pin-tuck detail for a sartorial twist. Elsewhere on the jacket, the engineered stripe collar lends a nod to the up-turned style worn by an iconic striker at one of Manchester’s leading teams in the 1990s.

Then, inspired by football kits of the late 1970’s and early 1980’s, Umbro introduces a range of football shirts which provide a street-savvy take on a style which has long become a wardrobe classic.

Finally, the SS24 interpretation of the Cabana Set, first offered by the brand in the 1960’s, is emblazoned with Umbro’s signature all-over diamond gradient print. Loud and proud.
