As seen in the preseason match against Arsenal, Kappa are helping French Ligue 1 side Angers SCO celebrate their centenary season in style with a stripped back version of their home shirt that draws massive influence from the simplicity of kits from the past.

Italian brand Kappa adopt the ‘less is more’ approach for the design of the special Angers SCO centenary celebration collectors shirt, using a design that’s reminiscent of shirts that the club used to wear in the 50s. The shirt was worn in the preseason match between the French Ligue 1 side and Arsenal, a match that ended 1-1 after 90 minutes, with Arsenal ultimately ruining the party by winning 3-4 on penalties.

The design of the special collectors shirt sees a completely clean, white base with long sleeves and a vintage officer collar with a single button. The brilliant white of the shirt is a look that’s held close to the hearts of the Maine et Loire club, and it’s joined by the simplistic and retro black ‘SCO’ lettering on the left of the chest in place of the club's more modern crest. The embroidered Kappa logo then adopts a white colouring, keeping its appearance pleasingly discreet and leaving the focus on the sleek and stylish silhouette of this special shirt.

Inserts are added at the bottom of the sleeves, while on the back, a nice "1919-2019" centenary sign off is joined by the only other hint of colour on the shirt, which arrives in the form of a small tricolore label, a nod to the club's home nation. The shirt comes in a special presentation box, embellished with gold trim and detailing that’s fitting of the occasion. It also includes a photo of the team from the 50s from which the shirt borrows its design. Not one you're going to want to get mud on, this.
