When adidas say they've created "The Greatest Running Shoe Ever" you sit up and take notice. Featuring 20% more BOOST cushioning material the Ultra BOOST lands with a stack of tech upgrades.

Launched by New York City FC's David Villa and sprinting sensation Yohan Blake in NYC today the Ultra BOOST focuses on the smoothest possible ride for all athletes and is developed using ARAMIS’ 3D shape and surface measurement to provide a fully adaptable running experience. The shoe adjusts to the runner’s stride delivering superior support and adaptive comfort.

As players look to maintain their fitness ahead of the business end of the season the Ultra BOOST offers the highest Energy Return cushioning in the running industry, to ease stress on muscles and joints on hard running surfaces. Adidas have substituted the traditional EVA midsole for more direct contact to provide the ultimate expression of BOOST complemented by an innovative update to adidas’ Primeknit technology.

Adidas found that a runner’s foot can expand up to 10mm in width while running. When restrained, this expansion can cause severe discomfort, friction leading to injury and blisters. The Primeknit pattern of Ultra BOOST provides comfortable support in less expansive areas of the foot and adaptive stretch where it’s needed to deliver maximum comfort.

A new heel construction that frees the natural movement of the Achilles tendon, a new featherweight sock liner for a customized fit and feel and a new dual-density Torsion System also feature as adidas ring the changes.

The adidas Ultra BOOST will be available from selected online stockists from Feb 11. Thoughts? Drop your comments below.
