The group stages are over and the business end begins tomorrow. But before the knock out stages begin we take quick stock of who's leading who in the race to become the World Cup's top scoring football boot.

So far the ball has hit the back of the net 136 times at the World Cup, disallowed goals aside. Unsurprisingly the runaway candidates for the crown are the adidas F50 and Nike Mercurial, that has been counted in both Superfly and Vapor form. These two goal scoring heavyweights have scored 38 and 36 goals respectively, a close competition and one that Nike will want to win after the F50 ran away with the season title winning three out of the four leagues we counted and totaling a massive 774 goals, 23 more than the Mercurial.

After these two come the play maker boots with the Predator Instinct in third with 15 goals and the HyperVenom in fourth place with 10. The Magista, Nike's newest all new silo, completes the top five with six goals followed by the Nike Tiempo (6), PUMA evoPOWER (6), adidas Nitrocharge (3), Warrior Superheat (2, including Tim Cahill's absolute stunner) and PUMA evoSPEED (2) completing the top ten.

Last but no means least are the boots languishing behind with just one goal to their names, these include Mizuno's new silo the Basara and the Wave Ignitus, the Warrior Gambler, adidas 11Pro and Nike CTR360 Maestri III.
