Vincent Kompany has fired a shot at adidas on Twitter by criticising the brand for discontinuing the adidas ACE 16.1 silo. The Manchester City captain switched into the lo-cut leather silo when his contract with New Balance expired in 2016, and now he's wishing he stocked up on them.

Brands update their football boots all the time Vinny, you're a big boy, you'll find another pair. We've all experienced favourite boots that have been discontinued in the past; the Predator, F50 and Nike CTR series being three of the most popular, but the big Belgian ain't happy, not one bit, tweeting; "Annoying situation. Great defenders' boot being discontinued by @adidas. Don't change good product. Keep them coming."

Of course, adidas will argue that they are keeping the good products coming. For Kompany though, he's clearly after an ACE with the quilted leather upper that the 16.1 series offered, and which the 17.1 does not.

The City skipper does not have a contract with adidas so he's free to speak his mind, or publicly air his frustrations. Now he faces a dilemma if adidas don't sort him out with more 16.1 boots ahead of the season.

Get in the Copa 17.1 big man.
