Taking two significant steps forward in the women's game, adidas have brought female specific versions of the X and ACE to the table with the new 'Metallic Shimmer Pack'.

It’s the women's game that often sets the standard when it comes to colourways across the board – just take a look back at the adidas ‘Speed of White Pack’ or the 2015 Nike Women’s World Cup Pack. While its previously been colour stories that have flown the women’s flag, adidas have launched the first versions of the ACE and X football boots created explicitly for female players – the 'Metallic Shimmer Pack'.

Some description

Made up of the "Platinum Metallic/Core Black/Core Red" adidas ACE 17.1 Women and the dubiously titled X 17.1 Women in a "Core Black/Platinum Metallic/Core Red" (lets be honest, it's no step change in design compared to the X 16.1), both boots of the adidas ‘Metallic Shimmer Pack’ have been engineered to specifically fit the female foot by featuring a totally unique combination of shape, design and traction. Structurally different to cater for the female foot shape and physiology, both boots have shorter and smaller studs, as well as unique stud positioning. The height and diameter of the studs are designed to aid both rotational and linear traction for female athletes.

Players such as Becky Sauerbrunn and Morgan Brian will wear the new ACE boot, while the X version will be worn by the likes of Lindsey Horan, Emily Sonnett and Danielle Colaprico. Becky Sauerbrunn, U.S. Soccer Women's National Team Captain and 2015 World Cup Champion said: "In soccer, female athletes across the world wear shoes that are not meant for us, our feet, or our game. Today, thanks to adidas' constant drive to innovate and empower women, we finally have access to the first ever cleat for female players. The new ACE and X boots are a revolution to the women's game, a trailblazing step I'm honored to showcase on the field."
